Did you know that Noosa Nippers is an entirely volunteer-based program? Every flag set in the sand, every whistle blown, and every hi-vis rashie worn in the water is thanks to parents and supporters like you. We don’t just “run” on volunteers—they are the heart and soul of everything we do.

Whether you’re a former pro in the surf or a superstar on the BBQ tongs, we need your help to make the 2026/27 season our best one yet. You don’t need a Bronze Medallion to be a hero on the beach; from organising the kids to snapping photos, there is a role for every skill set.

Available Volunteer Roles

Age Manager (AM): Lead an age group through Sunday morning fun, skill-building, and safety.
Assistant Age Manager (AAM): Support the Age Manager in keeping the group organised and active.
Water Safety Personnel (WSP): Provide a safety net in the surf (Bronze Medallion or SRC required).
Nipper Safety Assistant (NSA): Support our Under 8s and below with shallow-water supervision.
Parent Liaison (PL): The “social hub”—keep parents informed & record Nipper attendance.
Club Photographer: Capture the action and memories of the season for our gallery.
Junior Activities Committee Member: Help behind the scenes with season planning and logistics.
Junior Activities Volunteer Coach: Share your specialised skills in board, swim, or beach sprinting.
Surf Sports Official: Help officiate races and judge finishes at club and inter-club carnivals.

Nippers

Nippers was established at the Noosa Heads Surf Lifesaving Club in 1967.

The program runs at Noosa Heads Main Beach and is designed to introduce children aged 5 to 13 years to Surf Lifesaving. It is a fun outdoor activity that grows a child’s confidence and teaches valuable surf awareness skills. Our aim is to provide a safe, family-friendly and fun environment for our Nippers. Kids living on the coast should be equipped with the best skills and knowledge for safe use of Australian beaches. Our Nippers today are the next generation of Surf Lifesavers.

Preliminary Pool Swim

Each year, every child must complete a pool swim proficiency assessment before participating in the Nippers program. This is a safety requirement and cannot be waived.

🚫 Important: Swim proficiency assessments completed through coaches or private instructors will not be accepted. Assessments must be completed at one of the official club sessions listed above.

Welcome thank you for registering for the 2026/27 Noosa Heads SLSC Nippers season! We are excited to have your family join us on the beach for what is shaping up to be a fantastic year.
Nippers is one of the most rewarding programs a child can be part of, building water confidence, physical fitness, resilience, teamwork, and a life-long love of the ocean. Best of all, it is a whole-family experience.

We want to be upfront: Nippers is not a drop-off program. It is a community-run activity that only works because families roll up their sleeves and pitch in together. Every Sunday, parents and guardians are expected to be on the beach and actively participating in the running of the session.

As part of your registration, all families are required to acknowledge that volunteering is a condition of your child’s participation in the Nippers program.

The Club accepts Play On vouchers, please email them to [email protected] on registering.

Unfortunately, we are unable to process voucher reimbursements after registration and payment have been completed. Please ensure any vouchers are submitted or applied prior to completing your registration.

Each year, every junior member is required to complete a Pool Swim Evaluation prior to the commencement of the season. The Pool Swim Evaluation involves a survival float and a timed swim. Nippers who were not able to make one of the Club evaluation days can be signed-off by their swim school/coach. Click below for a printable version.

Membership

To join Nippers, children must be 5 years of age to 13 years of age by 30th September.

Our enrolment period for the 2025/26 season opens on 1^st July 2025. To enrol, please click on the “JOIN NOW” button from 1st July 2025 onwards.

Please note that due to high demand and limited spots, your child may be placed on a waitlist. Priority is given to children who have older siblings already participating in our Nippers program. We recommend enrolling as early as possible to secure a place.

Additionally, the Queensland Government’s release of Play On! vouchers (formerly known as Fairplay vouchers) commences on 4^th August 2025. If you are eligible, please submit your Play On! voucher along with your membership request and fee’s in August 2025.

Renewing Families

Please follow the steps below to renew and pay for your family group:

SLS Member’s Portal

Log in to your SLS Member’s Portal HERE.
Go to the MEMBERSHIP tab.
Select FAMILY.
Select RENEW MEMBERSHIPS for your family group.
Update any necessary details.
Don’t forget to select SUBMIT.

Payment

After completing your family’s membership renewals, you will need to pay the applicable fee’s. The 2025/26 Nipper Family membership fee’s are:

One Child, Up to two parents: $300
Two Children, Up to two parents: $350
Three+ Children, Up to two parents: $400

Members Portal

Your membership fee includes: 1 x free High Vis Rash Shirt and 1 x Age Colour Cap per child, use of equipment for all nipper Sundays, access to club facilities and discounts in the supporters club.

The nippers’ merchandise and training fees are at an additional cost.
