Your New Club

Building the Future of Beach Safety at Noosa Main Beach

Since 1928, the Noosa Heads Surf Life Saving Club (NHSLSC) has played a critical role in Noosa’s surf and beach safety, sporting, and community culture. The existing Clubhouse dates back to the1960s and has now outgrown its aged building and limited facilities. A new facility is urgently needed to continue the Club’s vital surf lifesaving operations for the safety and benefit of our community.

What is the project?

Following a unanimous vote by members in 2024, the existing Clubhouse will be demolished and replaced with a new, architecturally designed, purpose-built, sustainable and fully accessible facility to service the Club’s and community’s needs for the next 50 years.

At its core, the redevelopment is about saving lives with enhanced patrol rooms, rapid beach access and new training and rescue facilities.

To ensure ongoing community safety life saving operations are expected to operate from a temporary facility during the new Club’s construction period.

What is the project’s timeline?

The new Club project is currently (early 2026) in the design and planning phase with a detailed budget and construction timeline yet to be finalised.

Pending relevant approvals, it is hoped the new Club would be ready to welcome locals and visitors in 2029, ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Where will the new Club be?

The proposed redevelopment is expected to sit within the existing on-ground footprint and be in line with other buildings in Hastings Street, Noosa. It is expected to include:

  • Basement  car parking – for active members (lifesavers, athletes etc.)
  • Level 1 - lifesaving operations and amenities, storage, administrative offices, and main entry
  • Level 2 - Supporters’ Club amenities (restaurant, bar, gaming)
  • Level 3 - a dedicated level for active members and training
  • Urban and landscape upgrades - within the Club’s lease area.

Who is coordinating the project?

The project is being coordinated by Club management and professional consultants who are working with relevant stakeholders including Club members, sponsors and the State and Local Governments.

The new Clubhouse will feature an architecturally designed style that reflects its beach front location while maintaining the welcoming, relaxed feel locals and visitors expect.

Why is a new Club needed?

The redevelopment is not a luxury. It is an essential investment for community safety and the future of lifesaving and our community for the next 50 years.

The existing Clubhouse dates back to the 1960s and has reached the end of its useable life and functions.

While the Club’s redevelopment is required to enhance surf life saving operations, training and education, the project will also allow enhanced coastal protection, improved accessibility and an upgrade of the Supporters Club in line with modern dining standards.

How will the project be funded?

The redevelopment will be funded by a combination of the Club’s own funding and any potential funding grants which may become available to the Club.

How can I keep informed?
